Accreditation

Accreditation is a voluntary process which verifies that any school or curriculum meets reliable education standards. No school can guarantee the acceptance of credits by other regional schools since each institution creates its own policies of credit transfer. Many schools require additional validation of academic achievements such as enrollment or placement tests. Bright Star Christian school likewise does not automatically accept credits issued by other schools including public schools and does require placement tests to ensure the students are placed correctly. Parents enrolling their students in Bright Star Christian School are under the State of Texas homeschool protection legislation (see page 267 of TEPSAC).  Bright Star Christian School works with college admissions offices directly to ensure our students are well prepared for whatever college they choose to attend. All Bright Star credits have been accepted by all colleges that our students have applied to thus far, including Texas A&M, University of Texas, Criswell College, and the University of Arkansas among others.

The A Beka Academy programs in which all Bright Star Christian School students are enrolled  are accredited by the following organizations:

The Florida Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (FACCS) provides national recognition through the National Council for Private School Accreditation (NCPSA); and in the state of Florida through the Florida Association of Academic Nonpublic Schools (FAANS). In keeping with accreditation standards, video teachers undergo certification through FACCS

.

The Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (SACS CASI) is an accreditation division of AdvancED and is one of only six agencies that accredit both public and nonpublic educational institutions. Programs of study accredited by SACS CASI are part of an international educational network, the members of which have demonstrated success in educating students. SACS CASI accreditation is recognized throughout the world as a symbol of quality in education.

Bright Star also supplements our educational programs with Bob Jones University Private School Curriculum.  BJU is a member of the Transnational Association of Christian Colleges and Schools (TRACS), [15935 Forest Road, Forest, VA 24551; Telephone: (434) 525-9539; email: info@tracs.org] having been awarded Reaffirmation I of its Accredited Status as a Category IV institution by the TRACS Accrediting Commission on November 8, 2011. This status is effective for a period of ten years. TRACS is recognized by the United States Department of Education, the Council for Higher Education Accreditation and the International Network for Quality Assurance Agencies in Higher Education (INQAAHE).
